ABOUT ME
Xhingyu Chen is an independent art critic, contemporary art consultant and
art advisor.

She was born in Changsha, Hunan and moved to New York City when she
was a toddler. She attended Middlebury College in Vermont where she
majored in Studio Art. She has worked for museums and galleries in New
York City, including an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She moved to Shanghai in early 2002. She worked for several galleries here
before joining the team at
BizArt Art Center in early 2004. During her time
there, she managed the artist-in-residency programs and help develop international programs. Working with
such an esteemed organization has helped her develop important contacts and relationships with galleries and
artists not only in Shanghai, but also in the rest of China and around Asia. She started Shanghai Culture in late
2005.

Xhingyu is also an independent art critic and published author. Her book,
Chinese Artists: New Media 1990 -
2010,
is published by Schiffer Publishing, and features comprehensive introductions to 19 contemporary
Chinese artists working in new media. Please visit the
